What book are you reading right now?
Right now, I’m reading The Mountain Is You by Brianna Wiest, a book that feels almost tailor-made for anyone taking on a creative or entrepreneurial venture, like the journey we’re on with The Daily Brew Cafe.

The book is about how the greatest obstacle we face isn’t outside; it’s within. The mountain stands for our personal challenges and the long climb of self-discovery and growth. If you’re building something from the ground up, whether it’s a business, a blog or a new mindset, the work begins with mastering yourself and turning inner resistance into daily courage.
“Every day, there’s a voice that wants us to give up or coast along with yesterday’s average. Our true progress comes when we fight through old patterns, choosing to grow even (especially) when it’s uncomfortable.”
How the Book Fuels Our Journey
There’s a powerful lesson in the book:
“Your new life is going to cost you your old one.”
Building something new like The Daily Brew Cafe means letting go of comfort. It’s about embracing change, learning new things and letting go of habits or roles that no longer fit. Our biggest challenge is our own mindset: the stories we tell ourselves about what’s possible.

Wiest reminds us:
“Start quantifying your days by how many healthy, positive things you accomplished, and you will see how quickly you begin to make progress.”
That’s how we’re approaching every stage of the café dream: celebrating small milestones, learning from failures and refining the vision with every step.
Daily Mindset: Climbing the Mountain
The hardest part isn’t the big tasks; it’s the daily discipline of getting up and moving the needle, even when the summit feels far away. The way I read Wiest, it’s not really about conquering the mountain at all. It’s about the person you become while you climb it, and that change is yours to keep.
Every morning, we wake up with a choice: fight through self-doubt, resist autopilot and take one more step. We try, learn, grow and invite others into the journey. This mindset shapes not just our project, but our lives.
Why This Book Matters Now
The Mountain Is You teaches that self-sabotage is often fear in disguise, and that real growth comes when we turn inward with honesty and courage. As we lay the foundation for something meaningful, it’s not about perfection but progress: a series of small victories over yesterday’s doubts.
“It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.” (often credited to Sir Edmund Hillary)
Here’s to scaling new heights together: one step, one sunrise and one hard-won belief at a time.
