We’re halfway through November, and winter is on its way. The phrase is a bit of a cliché by now, but it’s everywhere. If you don’t recognize it, catch up on Game of Thrones. That’s where it comes from, and it explains why pop culture keeps repeating it.

Game of Thrones gave us plenty of memorable moments. Remember the stray coffee cup that showed up on a table in Winterfell in the final season? Fans decided it was a Starbucks cup, and it became a meme almost overnight. Inspired by that, our team meeting today ended up at a local Starbucks, where we indulged in a few winter favorites.
Coffee orders tell their own stories. My colleague went for a classic Caramel Cappuccino, and I ordered the Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino. As soon as I placed the order, I was hit with nostalgia. I first tried this flavor in Dublin, Ireland, where a roadside café on the corner was my go-to spot. I’d stop there on my early morning college commute and often again on the way home in the evening. Those were simpler days, with a lighter kind of stress and plenty of energy.

Our idea of stress changes as we grow up. The challenges don’t go away, but experience helps us handle them with more perspective. So today, raising a cup to old memories, I toasted with my Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino.
“Some of the best flavors in a cup are the memories it brings back.”
Moments like these make life richer. Each cup links the past and the present, mixing nostalgia with what we’re doing today.
