for the home brewer
Brew It Like You Mean It
Good coffee at home comes down to four things: how much coffee, how fine you grind it, how hot the water is and how long it sits. This guide gives you a starting recipe for five methods, then shows you which dial to turn when the cup tastes off.
What’s inside (17 pages, A4)
- Five step-by-step recipes: pour-over, French press, AeroPress, moka pot and cold brew, each with exact grams, water temperature and timing.
- A ratio cheat sheet that also covers espresso.
- Starting points for six café-style drinks you can make at home.
- A taste compass for fixing sour, bitter, weak or muddy coffee.
- A beans-and-water page with freshness and storage basics.
- Bean-note cards, three brew-log pages and a write-in “My version” card on every method page.
Who it suits
You own a brewer or two, you want fewer bad cups, and you like writing down what worked. You would rather print a page and stick it near the kettle than scroll a blog.
What it isn’t
It is not a barista course, and it does not teach espresso machine technique or latte art. The recipes are good starting points, not rules. Your beans, grinder and water will shift the result.
for the café dreamer
Café Dream Starter Kit
Dreaming of a café is easy. Putting numbers on it is the part most people put off. This workbook gives you a place to do it, step by step, with the maths done for you.
What’s inside (8 sheets)
- Startup Budget: 29 cost lines in 9 groups, with estimate, actual and difference columns and a summary by category.
- Funding Plan: adds a safety buffer and a running-cost reserve, compares them with the money you have lined up, shows the gap and estimates a monthly loan instalment.
- Ingredients and Recipes: enter what each ingredient costs, then build every menu item from them.
- Menu Costing: shows profit per sale and cost share for each item, and flags anything that needs a new price.
- Break-Even: turns your monthly costs and average bill into the orders you need per day, with a what-if table.
- Launch Checklist: 31 tasks across seven phases, with a progress score.
- Start Here: a colour guide that shows which cells to fill in.
How it works
Yellow cells with blue text are yours to fill in. Everything else calculates and is locked, so a stray click doesn’t break a formula. Sample rows are marked EXAMPLE: overwrite them with your own figures. Amounts are in rupees (₹), and the licence names it mentions (FSSAI, GST) are Indian examples, so check what applies where you open.
It is a planning aid, not financial, legal or tax advice. Please check your plan with an accountant or lender. Following the café journey? Read From Dream to Bean.
Questions before you buy
Are these physical products?
No. Both are digital downloads that you receive straight after payment: a PDF for the guide and an Excel (.xlsx) file for the workbook.
Can I print the guide?
Yes, for your own use. It is laid out for A4. If you print on US Letter, choose “fit to page”. Print as many copies of the log pages as you like.
What do I need to open the workbook?
Microsoft Excel. It was also recalculated and checked in LibreOffice.
Does the workbook work outside India?
The structure does. The rupee format and the licence examples are Indian, so adjust those for your country.
Will the workbook tell me if my café will succeed?
No. It shows what your own numbers say, and it is only as good as the figures you enter.
Can I share or resell them?
No. Both downloads are licensed for your personal use only. © 2026 The Daily Brew. Please don’t copy, share or resell them.
