A café should feel easy to walk into. So here is, in plain words, what this site keeps on your device, what it only does with your permission, and how to change your mind at any time. Nothing here is ever sold.
your order, your call
You can open your privacy choices whenever you like and switch anything on or off. The change applies straight away.
Open my privacy choicesEssentials (always on)
These keep the site working and safe, so they can’t be switched off:
- WordPress.com and Jetpack (Automattic): hosting, security, sign-in, comments, the Like button, newsletter sign-up and basic visit counts that are part of running the site.
- Akismet: catches spam in comments and forms.
- Your café preferences, stored only in your own browser: whether the café lamps (night mode) are on, whether café sounds and the rainy-café background are on, your weather window setting, and the choices you make in this privacy card. These never leave your device.
Visitor stats (only with your yes)
Google Analytics, through Google Site Kit, helps us see which posts people read and how they found the site, so we know what to brew next. It stays off until you allow it. We use Google Consent Mode, so without your yes Google is told not to store analytics cookies.
Your weather (only with your yes)
The weather window lets the café match your sky: rain on the glass when it rains where you are, sunshine when it doesn’t. If you allow it, your browser asks for your location first. We round it to about 10 km, keep it in your browser only, and send it to Open-Meteo, a free weather service, without cookies. We never see or store your location. You can switch it off from the footer at any time.
Marketing (off unless you allow it)
There are no ads on The Daily Brew today. If we ever measure campaigns or show offers for our own Brew Shelf products, this is the switch that controls it, and it stays off unless you turn it on.
Links to other sites
Links to Instagram, Pinterest and other sites are plain links. Those sites have their own policies once you visit them.
How long your choices last
We remember your privacy choices for six months, then ask again. Clearing your browser’s site data also resets them. For everything else about your personal information, see our Privacy Policy, or say hello on the Knock Knock page.
